Cosmos Chaos: Catalyst for Social Learning

Pacific Educator page 12

The Fall 2010 edition of our partner PREL's Pacific Educator magazine featured an interesting article about Cosmos Chaos. In the piece, Games as Catalysts for Social Learning, educational game designer Meagan Rothschild discusses how she's not content to accept that a game with a demonstrably positive influence on learning is necessarily the sole cause of a student's improvement. Rather, Rothschild puts forth that games like Cosmos Chaos work because they create contextual spaces in which educational discussion and social connections can happen. Give it a read: it makes more sense when Meagan explains it.
