JASON on ScienceEducation.govThu 20 May 2010 - 08:51AM by Erin Mehlos
There's a new portal for science education in town. Aptly-named and currently in its beta phase, ScienceEducation.gov is an aggregate of educational content from various federal science agencies, committed to digital learning and open participation. Its content is conveniently sorted by grade level and includes lesson plans, curricula, classroom activities, homework help and professional development information. It also includes a very prominent front page slot for JASON Science games, including Operation: Resilient Planet and Coaster Creator. Give it a look.

eLearn Magazine InterviewThu 15 Apr 2010 - 08:06AM by Dan White
Click here to check out eLearn Magazine's excellent interview with Marjee Chmeil, Director of Digital Media for National Geographic's The JASON Project. Among the questions covered: Why use games to educate? What is the importance of failure in learning games? What learning methodologies can games exploit that schools can't? Should games be used to "trick" students into learning? A favorite quote from the article: "It's interesting to see how students who never knew a world before Nintendo readily embrace mistakes and move on without blinking while those who knew a world before Google still feel like 'right' and 'wrong' are two permanent states of knowledge."
