In 'Represent Me!' the student takes on the role of a congressional legislator. The player is a representative of the people and in order to get re-elected you must sponsor bills that are important to your constituents. 'Represent Me!' asks the student to think about what portion of the population a bill will affect. Will this bill appeal to young people or old? Rich or poor? Urban or rural? After the bills are sorted, you must meet the people who live in your district and decide what bills will appeal to the most people you represent. Will you coast easily to victory? Or go down in ignominious defeat?
'Represent Me!' is part of the immensely successful iCivics game suite - a project to re-introduce civics to middle-school students as part of a larger curriculum. 'Represent Me!' engages students in politics and teaches how it works. By illustrating the mechanics and responsibilities involved in legislation in a simple, easy to understand format, 'Represent Me!' answers the question asked by many students: What do politicians do all day, anyway?
