Exciting Changes to the Filament Games Website

Exciting news – the 2026 Filament Games website overhaul is currently underway! At this very moment, a small legion of marketing gnomes are hard at work writing whimsical, yet restrained copy, approving eye-catching designs, polishing nifty hover states, and building a robust cookie consent management system. I’ve just received their latest dispatch (all is well, morale is high), and I’m here to share the latest intel on what you have to look forward to on the new site:

An overhauled Content Hub will allow folks to filter by subject and by format! As you may have noticed, we’re producing a lot more video content now, like this great interview with our CEO Dan White and the illustrious Dr. James Paul Gee, or these fun new livestreams with CCO Dan Norton (and also me) where we explore the ins and outs of educational game design by actually playing real educational games in real time, live and in public, regardless of how good we are at them. Special guests also stop by to share their perspectives, like this fascinating discussion with Ed Metz, a game-based learning visionary who, through his role at the Department of Education, has brought quality learning games to millions of students in the US. You can check out our latest stream below, which involves quite a bit of rubbish:

An expanded portfolio with new case studies and videos will show off the impact of game-based learning in the wild. We’ve shipped learning games into so many different environments and contexts at this point, covering diverse formats like browser games, MRI machines, Roblox, physical board games, VR, and more. Our new expanded portfolio will tell deeper stories about those titles, surfacing insights into game mechanics, design verbs, learning foci, and impact metrics. We’ll also be reaching back into our library to pull out classic titles (because 20 years is a long time to be making learning games), taking a close look at how things have changed over the years.

(Coming later this year) a handy all-in-one directory of educational games created in partnership with our clients! With hundreds of games shipped out into the world, we’ve got an inside lane on where to find the latest and greatest learning game content. We can’t wait to help you find your new favorite learning game.

That about wraps up the highlights. Keep an eye on our socials for more updates – we’re aiming for a mid-March launch, so if all goes according to plan, these words will have a lot of new stuff around them in under one month! 🎉
