Welcome back to the Game-based Learning Review! Dan and Brandon have a full episode of puzzle-solving, game design pitches, and robot dancing. They open with a clean run of Filament Fours, grouping classic city-builders and coding titles such as The Sims, Banished, and Human Resource Machine. Next, they take on a tough Filament Pitch and work out how to design a water-cycle-themed cart racer that stays fun to play. The main event takes them back into RoboCo for the dancing challenge. They adjust their bot’s brake force and RPMs to slide through the routine, test a smooth community-made bot, and look back on their favorite levels from the campaign. The episode ends with a surprise when a chatter drops a custom Python script into the chat, which sets up a two-player robot boxing match in the warehouse sandbox.

Episode Outline:

  • [0:00 - 6:54] Intro and Filament Fours: Dan and Brandon play their custom categorization game and correctly group coding, city-building, and space simulation games.
  • [6:55 - 19:33] The Philip Pitch: The hosts work out how to turn a cart racer into an educational game about the water cycle, with side discussions on UI literacy and transportation simulators.
  • [19:34 - 43:10] Dancing in RoboCo: Brandon and Dan return to the dance floor level, tune their bot’s motors to perfect its routine, and try out community-made disco bots.
  • [43:11 - 54:12] Favorite Levels and Robot Boxing: The hosts recall their favorite RoboCo levels from their eight-month playthrough and close the stream with a fully scripted, two-player boxing robot built by Filament’s own Luis.
