Celebrating 20 Years of Playful Innovation

This year, we’re looking back on 20 years of learning games, and frankly, it looks great. We’ve spent two decades dedicated to the craft of creating engaging, efficacious learning games, and to mark the occasion, our art department has designed a fancy commemorative logo (behold, the header!) that perfectly captures our journey. But that’s not all we’re doing! We’ve got a number of exciting developments in store:

A New Digital Home and Partner Spotlights

New year, new website. We’re underway on an overhaul and will have a new digital presence in no time. Well actually, a specific time, which is Q1. We aren’t just changing the paint, though; we’re celebrating our partners through a year-long series of interviews, livestreams, and podcasts. We’ll be taking deep dives into the games we’ve made over the years, exploring the mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics that have defined our portfolio. Which brings me to my next point.

Evolving the Discipline: The Game-based Learning Review

We are thrilled to announce the launch of The Game-based Learning Review, a new video series dedicated to creating a space for great minds to collaborate, discuss, and evolve the educational games development discipline. (Don’t miss our first episode with the illustrious Professor James Paul Gee, luminary of the game-based learning movement!) Whether you are interested in social-emotional learning or the latest insights into AI’s impact on game-based learning, this series is for you. Keep an eye on our YouTube channel, with more channels launching as we go – you might even want to like and subscribe to stay in the loop.

Empowering Educators with Curated Resources

In our hearts, we know that game mechanics are human mechanics. To support the operators in the classroom, we will be launching new curated resources specifically designed for educators who want to integrate games into their teaching. These resources are built to help you successfully navigate the intersection of play and pedagogy for learners of all ages. Our aim will be to equip and empower curious minds with easily accessible interactive learning resources.

2026 promises to be an exciting year, filled with new developments and new conversations with old friends. As we continue to navigate the twists and turns of educational game development, we remain grateful for the partners and pals that make it all possible. So in closing, thank YOU for 20 years of educational game development! Here’s to 20 more.
